Puzzle explanation

In order of the grid entries, the corrections to misprints spelt out “actors to replace ’tecs”. The surnames of four TV detectives were replaced by those of the actors who played them: Bacchus = (Lee) Ingleby, Taggart = (Mark) McManus, Frost = (David) Jason and Wycliffe = (Jack) Shepherd.
